When female Panthers are receptive (calm), they show a uniform orange, pink or rusty red coloration.
When a female Panther is non-recptive or gravid, they will show dark colored banding on the sides of their
body. However, just because they show the dark banding, it does not necessarily mean that they are gravid. It
just means the female is not interested in mating or that she is just agitated. Gravid females, when calm and alone
can show receptive coloration as well.
